1 Introduction Conservation of large raptors requires reliable information on fecundity, age at maturity and, especially, survival rates. However, it is difficult to estimate survival rates of large raptors after fledging. Challenges arise because birds occur at low density, with delayed maturity and lengthy duration of natal dispersal, and low reproductive rates, but with expected high survival for the relatively few reproductive products (Newton 1979; Sæther and Bakke 2000).

Who am I? I’m Dr Ruth Tingay, a long-time friend and work colleague of wildlife broadcaster Chris Packham CBE. I have set up this crowd funder on his behalf because I know Chris will be reluctant to take this step himself and I think he deserves our help and support. Summary of the case In June 2022, Fieldsports Channel Ltd published an article written by one of its journalists, Ben O’Rourke, and an accompanying video, accusing Chris of dishonest and unethical behaviour.

Justice for Ravens! #Justice4Ravens

In April 2018, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) issued a licence permitting gamekeepers to kill young ravens across a large area called Strathbraan, in Highland Perthshire. Much of Strathbraan is managed for grouse shooting and the area has been identified as a wildlife crime hotspot. Further details about this controversial licensing decision can be found here.
