Tedeschi Trucks Band - Red Rocks Ampitheater
30 Days of Photography 7/28/2024, 00:01 CT; Morrison, CO Viper-skinned long sleeve shirt and a glass cylinder on his left hand - the sounds of tortured freedom wailed from a red electric guitar. Lyrics came from the deep and spiraled up into the heavens. Slowly the masses receded back into the night, their souls filled. And I drove back across the darkness of Colorado in my friend's red Corolla. The gas station stood on a small corner of a big universe.
Reverberate
By Ryan Hecker 30 Days of Photography 7/25/2024, 18:46 CT; Boulder, CO Image taken by author. The hum of friendship reverberates through my soul beat to steady beat - driving out worry, quelling the maddening buzz - one thump at a time.
Joyfully Melting
By Ryan Hecker 30 Days of Photography 7/24/2024, 14:21 CT; The Rocky Mountains, CO Image taken by author. "What more could you ask for", he seems to say, sat smiling up at the pine trees and soaring cliffs. Someone or something sat him there, shaped him with their hands. He listens to the hum of white, foamy streams and the chirping of birds. Soon he will melt - flow down river to join a great migration to who knows where. In his eyes you can tell what he thinks of this truth.
As They Are
30 Days of Photography 07/22/2024, 05:27 CT; Boulder, CO Meant to carry, meant to hold, meant to be traveled through. Teaming bodies flow inwards and outwards with their goals and worries. They pay no mind to where they rush. No mind to the buildings as they are. It is only what the building contains, what transpires there, what they can do for you. In the soft, pink glow of morning, the people sleep. The buildings come alive, beautiful and resolute.
An Exhaling Mind
By Ryan Hecker 30 Days of Photography 07/21/2024, 08:34 CT; Boulder, CO Photo taken by author The mind expands upwards through the roots of red wood trees - Out along the wings of singing birds and the wind on which they ride - Stretched by the morning sun to the towering stretches of golden rock - javelins that pierce the sky. And there it remains to wander through tranquil emptiness - Until I call for it again.
The Indescribable Sound
A short reflection There is a sound that resonates at an indescribable pitch, lending itself not to the ear that strains to hear it. And there is a church that sits hidden in the center of town where the sound bellows through the pews, its only guard a poem with no meaning. The rain washes away caked footprints, the tears of those worthy listeners returning to the heaven from which they came. Sign up to discover human stories that deepen your understanding of the world.
Dulles
A free form poem In the backseat, long before the rising sun, there is no pretense for talking to the driver. No malice or coldness in temper. Nor weather. Nor places to hail from. A kind and tired peace. Words hang around in pockets during these hours before the rising sun — A nod for a ‘yes’ A smile for ‘good morning. tired too? of course. well take care then. thank you’ — they drift gently on pillows of moonlight. The comfort of the grandfather clock before it chimes. The aroma of coffee.
Withdrawal Thoughts
In the trenches again, for those who can relate I'm trying to quit nicotine. There's a chance withdrawal makes me less pleasant to be around. There's also a chance I wasn't that pleasant to be around in the first place - nicotine just made that a little less obvious to people. I'm trying to quit arrogance. There's a chance that's a rather arrogant thing to say. Some people, I'm aware, are just doomed. And there's a chance I'm too damn arrogant to see that I'm one of them.
Analysis | The Academy Awards will have new diversity rules to qualify for an Oscar. But there’s a huge loophole.
In how many ways will this year’s Oscars be different from the norm? Well, they’re being held this Sunday night, rather than as usual in February or March, during a pandemic that has upended films’ releases. And they’re among the last few Oscar ceremonies before the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences implements new diversity and inclusion standards for its top award, best picture, which will go into effect in 2024. Will the proposed diversity rules change the Oscars?
