Interview

What does it mean to be a journalist?

The other day I told my editor something to the effect of "If I'm right, I don't care if sources get mad at me. I care if YOU get mad at me."

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter, or Peach

Who do you wish followed you?

I want to get laypeople excited about particle physics, so just lots of regular people! Guy Fieri would be best for my brand I guess.

Why did you become a journalist?

Because I like writing "the two paragraphs in the middle where you have to stop telling of the story and explain the lame science"

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My Metal Gear Solid bionic limbs story, for sure

When's the best time to pitch you?

Weekends.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Nautilus Magazine, Wired, The Verge

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That it isn't interesting.
