Ryan Sit’s Biography
I'm an award-winning multi-media journalist at the nationally syndicated news program Inside Edition and former Staff Reporter for the New York Daily News covering breaking news, the NYPD, criminal justice system and government accountability in New York.
I've interviewed subjects across all walks of life - from prisoners like the Central Park Jogger rapist and murders to government officials like Sen. Charles Schumer. I covered both Donald Trump and Secretary Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign.
I aim always to tell stories that matter, to give voice to the underrepresented, shine light on the under-reported and effect change. In 2016 my original reporting exposed widespread malfeasance within the Administration for Children’s Services that resulted in the suspension and demotion of top officials at the agency in 2016.
In 2014 I uncovered critical details in the fatal police shooting of Akai Gurley. NYPD Police Office Peter Liang was later suspended, charged and found guilty of second-degree manslaughter.
In addition my reporting on the criminal justice system, I have also covered a myriad of other topics including sports, real estate, New York City Housing Authority, education, weather, politics and the public impact of policies.
In 2013, I received the in-depth reporting award from CUNY-Brooklyn College for an enterprise piece on Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s micro-unit apartments initiative. My analysis showed why the plan would fail to achieve it’s stated goals of mitigating the need for affordable housing.
My work has also appeared on the nationally syndicated television news program Inside Edition - the country's longest-running newsmagazine show that garners some 5 million viewers a day - and been cited on Salon.com and Money.MSN.com.
