[2610.34648] The Effect of Residual Confounding in the Analysis of Large Observational Data Sets
We review how residual confounding in large observational data sets can mistakenly lead researchers to declare a predictor variable statistically significant. As sample sizes become very large, standard errors decrease dramatically, causing unmeasured variables correlated with the predictor of interest to overwhelm the model and yield precise estimates of the wrong thing, the residual confounder. Three examples from environmental epidemiology are provided.

Abstract The Voyager 2 flybys of Uranus and Neptune revealed the first multipolar planetary magnetic fields and highlighted how much we have yet to learn about ice giant planets. In this review, we summarize observations of Uranus’ and Neptune’s magnetic fields and place them in the context of other planetary dynamos. The ingredients for dynamo action in general, and for the ice giants in particular, are discussed, as are the factors thought to control magnetic field strength and morphology.
Subsurface Density Structure of Taurus Littrow Valley Using Apollo 17 Gravity Data
The Traverse Gravimeter Experiment (TGE) from the Apollo 17 mission was the first and only successful gravity survey on the surface of the Moon, revealing the local gravity field at Taurus-Littrow Valley (TLV). TLV is hypothesized to be a basalt-filled graben, oriented radial to Serenitatis basin.
Potency and stability of compounded formulations of chlorambucil, melphalan and cyclophosphamide
Oral chemotherapy agents are frequently compounded in veterinary medicine however, the potency of some formulations have been shown to vary from that of Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved products. The objective of this study was to evaluate the potency and stability of three compounded oral chemotherapeutics commonly prescribed to be administered over time.
