1. Introduction Global spending on road repair and maintenance exceeds USD 400 billion annually [1]. Road pavement is the uppermost surface layer of a road designed to support vehicular traffic and provide a durable and seamless driving surface. Several studies and investigations have been carried out regarding the impact of road pavement damage on both safety and the economy [2,3]. The principal aim of researchers in this field is to reduce expenditures associated with inspections and maintenance.
