What was your first job as a journalist?

I worked on campus papers and job shadowed at Fairlady Magazine for a while.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, but I'd love to invest in one for personal writing risks.

How is social media changing news?

I think it's helping news become a lot more people-focused, however, it can also lead to a lot of misinformation that can spread easily

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means I get to share information and stories that can inform, uplift and inspire

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

That there's a bridge set to link Durban to the DRC

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Google Analytics, CMS, Photoshop, Microsoft Programmes, Shorthand, computers, cameras, lighting equipment etc.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Any piece that I get to really make a difference, whether it's about addiction or elderly diapers - there's something rewarding in those ones

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Don't be scared to fail. Failure is a part of the process and teaches you a lot in its wake. Learn from those mistakes and grow through it.

Water
