Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I have never used a typewriter. Interestingly, most of my stories have been written on my smartphone.

How is social media changing news?

Social media makes news more accessible to people worldwide. It does, however, worsen the issue of fake news.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

You can reach me via email or social media.

What's your favorite social network?

I live on YouTube.

Who do you wish followed you?

If this were years ago, perhaps Rihanna. Now I don't care about those things.

Why did you become a journalist?

I've always been inquisitive, and music has played a pivotal role in the sculpting of my being. My name is no coincidence lol.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I had no high school paper.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Wow, quite a few. A standout is definitely a series I did in the Jamaica Gleaner called 'High Note'. It zoomed in on the drug culture in the Jamaican entertainment industry, and most importantly, how we can get help for our influencers and learn from their mistakes.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I don't have a favourite. I do love the personal feel of Refinery29, the storytelling element of The New York Times and the profile stories of The Rolling Stone and Vogue.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That entertainment is easy! The section/beat employs all principles and practices of journalism, it requires as much research and focus.
