Safwan Sobhan is the Founder and Chairman of Safwan Bashundhara Global (SBG). He is an entrepreneur and investor whose business ventures have contributed to economic growth by creating jobs and fostering innovation. His consistent work ethic and straightforward problem-solving approach have helped him build a successful track record over the past 15 years.
His ability to address challenges directly has led to the expansion of the business into over 25 ventures across various sectors, including business, industrial, maritime, and manufacturing. He supports a sustainable business approach that values protecting people and the environment while focusing on achieving profit targets. His leadership has been recognized with the Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) of Bangladesh award, as well as other honors.
Sobhan was born in Bangladesh and spent part of his early years in the UK, where he attended Shiplake College in Oxfordshire, a boarding school known for its personal development and supportive environment. In 2007, he completed his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a focus on International Business at American Intercontinental University.
As the founder of Safwan Bashundhara Global (SBG), he has led the company’s expansion into new products and markets. He is recognized for his direct leadership style, which applies business strategies to achieve targets and enhance overall performance. He is effective in sharing company goals with management teams, guiding financial performance, and ensuring that operations align with budget plans.
He has also guided the organization to focus on social responsibility, supporting initiatives that reduced tuition for high-achieving students at Bashundhara Ad-Din Medical College and providing lower delivery costs for pregnant women to help improve healthcare accessibility.
His commitment to strategic planning and business development has earned him industry recognition as an innovative leader. Sobhan promotes the continuous improvement of company processes and the development of clear workflows to achieve business objectives and enhance efficiency. Under his leadership, the Bashundhara Group has adopted modern production techniques, automated systems, and streamlined supply chains to strengthen its position.
Sobhan has received awards for his contributions to business and charitable work. In 2020, he received the Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) of Bangladesh award for his role in advancing the nation’s economy. In 2022, he was honored with the Global Leader of the Year award, presented at an event attended by public leaders, diplomats, business leaders, investors, and royal dignitaries. He was recognized as the highest taxpayer in the young category for his significant contributions to Bangladesh's financial growth. He was named a “Commercially Important Person (CIP)” for his work in the industrial sector.
