Shikder Abir Mahmud Jahan aka Sam Jahan is a winner of the Human Rights Press Awards and has in-depth experience in journalism in Bangladesh.
The multiple award-winning reporter started his career in his origin -- Bangladesh -- soon after finishing his bachelor's in the United Kingdom at the University of Bedfordshire.
Sam started his full-time career at The Daily Star -- the country's most prominent and respected English daily -- as an Online-Multimedia Journalist before he moved with Agence France-Presse (AFP) as its sole local text/video reporter in the South Asian country.
Sam is a Chevening SAJP fellow in the University of Westminster.
Now he works for Reuters at its Dhaka bureau as a Video Journalist.
He covers the important stories in the region including crisis, extremism, economics, politics, sport, weather, features, or any ongoing top issues.
Sam is an expert on Rohingya refugee migration as he has been intensively working on the topic for years. For his 2016 reportage on the Rohingya exodus, he was awarded the special-merit by the Human Rights Press Awards. He again received the 2017 Human Rights Press Awards in the spot news category for reporting on the same issue.
He also received the Covering Climate Now 2022 award for his excellent video report.
