Sam Judy’s Biography

Sam Judy is an award-winning independent journalist with a background in criminal justice and civil rights. Starting his career during the COVID-19 pandemic, Judy’s civil rights reporting began with investigations into poor air quality in southern Dallas and persistent segregation in DISD schools. His first notable criminal justice investigation came with the murder of Cherish Gibson in 2023. He has maintained prominence through dedicated coverage of state corruption, civil rights violations in ICE detention, and the rise of fascism in the United States.

Judy’s work has been featured in Dallas Weekly, Dallas Free Press, Texas Observer, The Barbed Wire, Mondoweiss, Breakthrough News, and Prism Reports.
