By Sam Shiffman Published: December 6, 2021 Cinematic Candy: Why Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Licorice Pizza’ Will Sweeten Your Season You’d think that people would have had enough of silly love songs I look around me and I see it isn’t so Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs And what’s wrong with that?
X's and O's: Passing threat adds new layer to the offense - The Daily Cardinal
In the No. 14 Wisconsin Badgers’ 37-21 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Badger offense looked like it finally started to modernize. From the opening drive, Wisconsin’s offensive play calling was more aggressive than usual. Even though the Badgers relied predominantly on Jonathan Taylor, offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph employed spread formations more than Wisconsin’s traditional under center packages.
X's and O's: Analyzing UW's struggles against zone 'D' - The Daily Cardinal
Two weeks ago, Northwestern became the first team to frustrate the Badger offense. Jonathan Taylor couldn’t break a big off any big runs and Jack Coan looked flustered. Their struggles weren’t because Northwestern was aggressive, but instead a result of a more conservative approach to Wisconsin’s offense. Typically, opposing teams leave their cornerbacks and safeties in man coverage when playing Wisconsin so their linebackers can focus on stopping Jonathan Taylor.
X's and O's: Jack Coan forced Michigan to respect passing game - The Daily Cardinal
Last season, Wisconsin’s passing offense was anemic. Quarterback Alex Hornibrook couldn’t make simple plays and his receivers couldn’t find any separation. Running back Jonathan Taylor still had success but faced defenses that knew the Badgers would only throw out of necessity. This year – specifically last Saturday against Michigan – it’s been a completely different story.

Wisconsin needs to run the ball with success, minimize Michigan chances - The Daily Cardinal
If the Badgers want to avenge their 38-13 blowout loss to Michigan last year, they’ll have to do two things perfectly: maintain possession and get stops on early downs. In Michigan’s previous game against Army, the Wolverine offense was stagnant for most of the game as they couldn’t run the ball effectively on early downs. As the game wore on, Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson found himself having to convert less-manageable third-and-long situations.
Strong in the trenches: How offensive and defensive line play propelled Badgers to victory against USF - The Daily Cardinal
The Badgers lost a lot of talent on defense last season after D’Cota Dixon, Ryan Connely and T.J. Edwards all graduated. But if anything is clear from UW’s 49-0 win over USF, it’s that Jim Leonhard’s defense can still compete at an elite level. UW’s stout defensive performance along with South Florida’s risky defensive scheme allowed the Badgers to dominate the Bulls from the first drive.
Controlling the line of scrimmage, tempo key for both teams as Wisconsin takes on Iowa - The Daily Cardinal
While Wisconsin and Iowa will both try to establish their passing attack, this rivalry will likely be decided at the line of scrimmage. Both teams boast some of the best — and biggest — offensive and defensive lines in the nation. By controlling the line of scrimmage on offense, the Badgers can set the tone of the game. Continuously getting 5- or 6-yard runs with great line play will wear down and tire out Iowa’s defensive line.
