Use Fusion Development to Level Up AI Apps Part 3: Using AI-Processed Form Data
Here we take the data returned by Form Recognizer and save it to Dataverse so the Power App from the first article in the series can use it, and save it to an Azure SQL database so other apps and services and work with it. Download project source - 62.6 KB In the previous two articles, we’ve set up a Power Apps application to upload images to a Dataverse database. Using Azure Event Hub, Functions, and Form Recognizer, we extracted text from images using OCR.
Use Fusion Development to Level Up AI Apps Part 2: Integrating with Form Recognizer
Here we create an Azure Function in C# that is triggered by the event hub we created. This function reads the scanned form image that was saved to Dataverse and uses Azure Form Recognizer to extract information from it. Download project source - 62.6 KB In the previous article, we created a simple Power App to upload (or delete) images in Dataverse, just like a citizen developer. Our users can now upload scanned or photographed invoices or other documents and store them in Dataverse.
Use Fusion Development to Level Up AI Apps Part 1: Building the Power App
Here we demonstrate how to create a Power App that lets users upload a scanned or photographed copy of a form like an invoice or an expense report and save it to a Dataverse table. This article is a sponsored article. Articles such as these are intended to provide you with information on products and services that we consider useful and of value to developers Download project source - 62.6 KB Developers are in high demand but in short supply.
Streaming at Scale with Azure Event Hubs, Streaming Analytics, and Azure SQL Part 3: Analyzing and Visualizing the Data
This is Part 3 of a 3-part series that shows how to create an end-to-end streaming solution starting by streaming data into Azure Event Hubs, processing it with Streaming Analytics, and saving the results to a Cosmos DB database. This article demonstrates how to transform the data to produce statistics and visualize the data using Power BI.
Streaming at Scale with Azure Event Hubs, Streaming Analytics, and Azure SQL Part 2: Processing Streaming Data with Azure Streaming Analytics
This is Part 2 of a 3-part series that shows how to create an end-to-end streaming solution starting by streaming data into Azure Event Hubs, processing it with Streaming Analytics, and saving the results to a Cosmos DB database. This article demonstrates how to use Azure Streaming Analytics to create jobs that take Event Hub stream as an input, transform/process the data in a meaningful way, and write to Azure SQL database. This article is a sponsored article.
Streaming at Scale with Azure Event Hubs, Streaming Analytics, and Azure SQL Part 1: Getting Streaming Data into Azure
This is Part 1 of a 3-part series that shows how to create an end-to-end streaming solution starting by streaming data into Azure Event Hubs, processing it with Streaming Analytics, and saving the results to a Cosmos DB database. Azure helps ingest, process, and store streaming data. It scales automatically as a company's data needs expand. Plus, Azure’s serverless options mean you don't need to spend time maintaining your servers and you pay only for what you use.
Build a Complete Microservice
This article will continue building the developer's familiarity with an automated CI/CD-powered cloud native workflow. Here we will provide a taste of a workflow where changes are built, tested, and deployed as soon as they're committed to a Git repository. In part two of this series, we created an Azure Function in Node.js and TypeScript using the default Visual Studio Code template. We also created a build pipeline to build and test the code and transpile the TypeScript to JavaScript.
First Cloud Native Steps: Automated Build, Test, and Deploy
Here we'll start with Azure DevOps and set up a pipeline that can build, test, and deploy a TypeScript Azure function completely in the cloud. Once the pipeline is created, we'll add code to our function that can receive and handle an HTTP request. Most of the article will be spent setting up the build/test/deploy pipeline, so we won't have space to make the serverless function do much more than say "Hello, world!" Cloud native development involves more than just running code in the cloud.
Introduction to Cloud Native
Here we'll provide a lay of the land, look at concepts that underpin Cloud Native development (concepts like DevOps, microservices serverless, containerization, Kubernetes, scalable cloud databases like CosmosDB), explain how these concepts affect the design and architecture of cloud-native apps, and highlight how they differ from the Wild West approach of Node apps deployed on an ad-hoc basis to VMs. One major advantage of Node.js is its relatively low barrier to entry.

Azure Functions and Serverless Computing
Get started with Azure Functions and serverless computing in Azure. We'll see what serverless computing is and how it's implemented in Functions. Azure Functions and Serverless Computing
In my previous blog post, WebJobs in Azure with .NET Core 2.1, I briefly mentioned Azure Functions. Azure Functions are usually small (or somewhat larger) bits of code that run in Azure and are triggered by some event. Azure takes complete care of the entire infrastructure of your Functions making it a so-called serverless solution. The only thing you need to worry about is your code. The code samples for this post can be found on my GitHub profile.

WebJobs in Azure with .NET Core 2.1
WebJobs aren't new to Azure or .NET. There's even a default Azure WebJob template in Visual Studio 2017 for the full .NET Framework. However, a similar template for WebJobs in .NET Core is somehow missing from Visual Studio. In this post, I'm using .NET Core 2.1. Creating a WebJob in .NET Core isn't hard, but you have to know some tricks, especially if you want to use some .NET Core goodies like logging and DI.
