What was your first job as a journalist?

I've written for various publications, but my first official one was with LeBron Wire of USA TODAY Sports.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No, but I wish to try one out in the future!

You get it in real-time and much quicker than before.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

With great power comes great responsibility. We have a duty to report the truth no matter what we cover, and I take immense pride in that.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

However the journalist is comfortable pitching it.

Why did you become a journalist?

Sports = my biggest passion. When an injury wiped out my professional hopes, I chose this field to remain connected to what I love.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

We did not have one when I attended.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Interviewing the Stockton Kings head coach for a season review. It was my first time interviewing team personnel of that stature.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Keep throwing yourself out there. Search the landscape for stories because you'll never know what you discover.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Anytime is a good time to pitch a story.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

As an editor for my school's magazine, DIG, I saw a pitch about having better posture at the computer. I adjusted after.
