VOID: Favorite High School Music Lists
Sarah Warrender's favorite high school songs: Unlike the other two whippersnappers submitting songs from their high school days, I didn't have a lot of internet access in my early and mid-teens. I didn't have a cell phone. I certainly didn't have an iPod. No, no. I went to high school in the good old days when we passed notes in the halls and relied on the radio to learn about music. Or better yet: CD compilations. Also, during high school, I went through a heavy "Christian music only" phase.
MUSIC: Hayley Williams goes solo
For years, fans of pop punk band Paramore have heard Hayley Williams say that everything she does is for the band. Any solo features she did with other artists had to emphasize that it was Hayley Williams from Paramore, never just her. Since 2005, Paramore has fought to be more than just a "girl fronted band." The rotating members of the band have clung to whatever acknowledgement they could get that was more than that of a backing band.

Something to be blue about
Pantone has selected Pantone 19-4052, or what regular folks would call ‘Classic Blue,’ as the Color of the Year for 2020. We have come up with a list of things that come in this classic, stable, dependable, boring hue.
VDT Spelling Challenge
VDT Spelling Challenge Watch again Henry Corbitt of Lowndes Middle School and Burnis Williams of Valdosta Early College Academy attended the Georgia Association of Educators State Spelling Bee March 15 after winning and placing first runner-up in the regional bee. They visited the Valdosta Daily Times office to give its staffers a spelling bee using words they had to spell at the state level. To see how well our VDT staffers did, watch the video above.
Hulu's 'Shrill' rings true
I looked at the screen and I saw myself. Well, not exactly myself. I looked at the screen and saw a character that loosely resembled me and said things I have said and thought things I have thought and got mad about things that have made me mad on a fairly regular basis.
The Great Divide: Election exposes rural, urban chasm
ATLANTA — Georgia voters tapped Republicans for every statewide office this year, just as they have for the last decade. Conservatives finished off the clean sweep with two runoff contests last week that kept the Secretary of State’s Office and the entire five-member Public Service Commission in Republican control.
