Sarah Bricker Hunt’s Biography

I'm Sarah Bricker Hunt, Director of Content and Community Engagement at Pride Source Media Group. We're a small and mighty team running the long-running independent print publication Between The Lines and pridesource.com, Michigan's home for LGBTQ+ news, culture, and community. We also power Q Syndicate, a national wire service for regional LGBTQ+ publications.

I believe our community deserves independently-owned journalism that sees us fully and shows up for us consistently, which is what keeps me going on days when I'm simultaneously editing a feature, designing digital art, wrangling a print deadline, and answering emails I definitely meant to answer yesterday. The work looks different every single day, which I love — and which has also made me very good at context-switching. I was honored to receive four Society of Professional Journalists Excellence in Journalism Awards from the Detroit chapter for work completed in 2025.

I'm a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, where I got my journalism start as editor in chief of the Eastern Echo. These days, I split my time between Cincinnati, a city I love, and Southeast Michigan, where the community I cover has my whole heart. When I'm not working, I'm probably on a road trip, making or listening to music, or doing something fun with my family and trio of very clingy cats.
