What does it mean to be a journalist?
Dedication to evidence and storytelling. And a commitment to balance those two things when they come into conflict

No
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
My book - certainly the heaviest lifting of my career and I'm very happy with the way it turned out.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
1. Find mentors: Cozy up to people you respect and make yourself useful to them.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Usually Thurs or Wed. Sometimes I'll get going on stories and when they are finished (often mid week) I realize I'm not sure what's next.
