LASER couples damage sensing to ESCRT assembly for lysosome repair
Abstract Lysosomal membrane integrity is essential for cell survival, but how damage sensing is spatiotemporally coupled to repair remains poorly understood. Recruitment and assembly of endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) I–III rapidly counteracts membrane damage, but it is unclear how ESCRT-I recognizes defective lysosomal membranes.
SAMHD1 Knockout iPSC model enables high lenti-viral transduction in myeloid cell types
Abstract Recent advances in functional genomics tools have ushered in a new era of genetic editing to identify molecular pathways relevant to developmental and disease biology. However, limited model systems are available that adequately mimic cell states and phenotypes associated with human disease pathways.
Variants in tubule epithelial regulatory elements mediate most heritable differences in human kidney function - Nature Genetics
Abstract Kidney failure, the decrease of kidney function below a threshold necessary to support life, is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. We performed a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of 406,504 individuals in the UK Biobank, identifying 430 loci affecting kidney function in middle-aged adults.

Genomic surveillance reveals multiple introductions of SARS-CoV-2 into Northern California
Epidemic in Northern California Genome sequencing of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) outbreaks is valuable for tracing the sources and perhaps for drawing lessons about preventing future outbreaks. Genomic analysis by Deng et al. revealed that Northern California experienced a complex series of introductions of the virus, deriving not only from state-to-state transmission but also from international travel by air and ship.
Genomic surveillance reveals multiple introductions of SARS-CoV-2 into Northern California
Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has spread globally, with >52,000 cases in California as of May 4, 2020. Here we investigate the genomic epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 in Northern California from late January to mid-March 2020, using samples from 36 patients spanning 9 counties and the Grand Princess cruise ship.
