Scot French’s Biography
Scot French is an avid investor with more than a decade’s worth of experience in managing portfolios for corporate executives, institutional fund managers, and other very successful clients.
Scot is the founder of the boutique investment firm, HP Investments, otherwise known as Hopewell Partnership Investments. The company was named after his native hometown of Hopewell, Illinois. He founded HP Investments in 2015 out of Brooklyn, New York, before relocating to lower Manhattan.
Scot received his bachelor’s degree in 2009 and his MBA in 2011. While carrying a full course load in the demanding master’s program and balancing a part-time internship on the side, he published an influential financial newsletter called Market Roundup. At its peak, it had 3,150 subscribers who paid $300 each just to have his insight.
Prior to founding HP Investments, Scot developed his expertise as an analyst for multiple Wall Street investment firms. He would later move positions by taking on significant management responsibility, requiring him to travel extensively to meet his clients and find new investment opportunities.
During this period, Scot developed a deep understanding of the needs of small businesses, emerging startups, and maturing companies that sought new ways to achieve substantial growth. This education was equally as valuable as the financial education he received as an undergraduate and as a candidate for the MBA he earned in 2011.
Scot’s expansive knowledge and capabilities range from creating wealth, entrepreneurship, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, syndicated leveraged loans, and much more. He continues to pursue investment opportunities in North America and international markets.
Scot’s approach to prospective investments is holistic, with a keen focus on the quality of the talent, their values, company culture, trends in relevant industries, etc. He values character as a key investment variable.
He also remains actively involved in charities on Wall Street and within his community of Summit, New Jersey. He enjoys a good game of chess and training for marathons.
