Algorithm. It's a fancy word for the order in which things appear in social media and search engines. Your Facebook feed has been programmed by an algorithm for years now, and it's why you see things that your friends don't and vice versa. The way Facebook explains it, algorithms are unavoidable because, with so much content, there has to be a way to filter it all, so it makes sense. I get that, mostly. And I get that algorithms aren't necessarily evil, mostly. But I don't believe that algorithms are always the best solution. Twitter launched its version in February.
