Scott Stoneham’s Biography

Scott Stoneham is the Founder of Lonestar Bucket Trucks, a Fort Worth, TX-based company that provides bucket trucks and specialty vehicles used in the electric power line and outdoor services industries. Additionally, he serves as the President of Lonestar Enterprises Limited, a holding company he established to manage his diverse business ventures across the automotive and utility vehicle sectors. His success resulted from combining expert marketing strategies with a unique business approach that allowed him to transition from selling luxury cars to distributing heavy machinery and commercial trucks. Since the launch of his utility truck dealership, Scott’s business has experienced rapid growth, positioning him as a key player in a niche market.

Stoneham's road to success is especially impressive when considering the personal obstacles he has overcome. In 2012, Scott sustained a serious spinal cord injury after falling 14 feet through a collapsed deck. This accident resulted in broken legs, a shoulder injury, and significant damage to his L3 vertebrae. After undergoing a 12-hour surgery, Scott spent nearly two years in a wheelchair, followed by months of intensive physical therapy, working diligently to regain the ability to walk. Despite the gravity of the situation, Scott’s determination and strength were unshakable, and today, he continues to lead a fulfilling life, grateful for the ability to walk and live without significant limitations. He attributes his recovery to the Grace of God, the skilled medical team supporting him, and his resolve to move forward.

Scott’s personal experiences have had a profound impact on his business philosophy. His "never give up" mentality has been the foundation for his business decisions. Despite facing economic challenges and market fluctuations, Scott has never hesitated to continue moving his business forward. He is committed to delivering exceptional customer service and driving growth across multiple heavy vehicle sectors. His education at Texas Tech University’s Rawls College of Business has equipped him with the strategic mindset necessary to recognize and capitalize on new business opportunities.

While attending Texas Tech University, Scott’s passion for the automotive industry began to take shape. He initially entered the automotive financing field, where he quickly developed a reputation for closing deals and exceeding customer expectations. This led to promotions that culminated in roles such as Finance Manager, Finance Director, and Director of Sales. After graduating, Scott joined Van Tuyl Automotive, a privately held dealership Berkshire Hathaway Automotive later acquired. Throughout his time there, he played a key role in the company’s success, further refining his sales and relationship-building skills.

Recognizing the volatility in the luxury vehicle market, Scott sought a new direction in 2005. He saw an opportunity in the specialty vehicle market, which he believed was more resilient to economic shifts. Scott launched an online dealership focusing on high-end, specialty vehicles, targeting business owners and municipalities that needed reliable cars to increase efficiency. This move proved successful, but when the 2008 economic downturn hit, it challenged his business.

The luxury vehicle market struggled during the economic collapse, and Scott’s dealership faced significant financial difficulties. With millions of dollars invested in inventory, he could not secure financing for many of his customers, and his dealership eventually became financially insolvent. However, Scott’s resilience remained strong. Instead of giving up, he adapted to the situation and returned to working for larger dealer groups, using the experience to rebuild his career and gain new skills.

In 2016, Scott saw another opportunity and launched Lonestar Bucket Trucks, applying the expertise he had developed in the automotive industry to the heavy equipment and commercial truck sectors. With municipalities increasingly focusing on upgrading their infrastructure, Scott saw the demand for bucket trucks growing. These specialized vehicles, essential for reaching hard-to-access locations, were in high demand as industries sought to meet the rising need for power, communication, and internet services.

Scott’s success in the utility vehicle sector can be attributed to his deep understanding of customer needs, strategic partnerships, and commitment to exceptional service. He has established Lonestar Bucket Trucks as a trusted name in the industry by offering high-quality products and building strong client relationships. His ability to anticipate market trends and maintain a customer-focused approach has been instrumental in the company’s continued success.

Outside of his business endeavors, Scott remains actively involved in his community. He participates in various fundraising activities and supports numerous charitable causes. His passion for automobiles, especially classic and muscle cars, also remains a significant part of his life. Growing up in Texas, Scott’s fascination with cars and engines was nurtured, and this lifelong interest continues to inspire him in both his personal and professional life.

Scott Stoneham’s career is a testament to his resilience, strategic thinking, and determination. Despite facing personal and professional challenges, he has built a thriving business and remains dedicated to giving back to his community. His story is an inspiring example of how perseverance, hard work, and the ability to adapt to change can lead to lasting success. Today, Scott continues to build upon his achievements, growing his businesses while staying true to his passion for automobiles and his commitment to making a positive impact.
