Why does that train horn sound for over an hour some nights?
Kiramin September 27, 2016, 10:17am 1 Ok, granted, it’s 3am & I’m a little desperate. The train is a fact of life, but why does the horn sound for 90+ minutes some nights? It’s like a phone’s busy signal (anyone remember land lines?)- it’s consistent. The train is not moving, as far as I can tell. The horn noise does not fade in or off, it just starts, continues, stops.
I pit Scentsy
Sounds like you passed a Yankee Candle store. I went into one once, because someone was requesting an item for a gift, and I smelled like that store the rest of the day even though all I handled was what I purchased. Several years ago, I went to a craft show and one of the vendors, who sold homemade hand cream, smeared some on me without asking me first. I nearly punched her. It was very strong smelling, too, and I couldn’t get rid of the odor.
How easy is it to cut off a human penis on an unwilling individual?
These stories in the media of penile amputation kinda puzzle me, Lorena used a knife and the unnamed Chinese woman a pair of scissors. Being male I have access to a penis, and flaccid it is very flexible and of a texture like that of soft rubber with a loose sheath of skin that moves freely. The following is speculation as physical experimentation has been ruled out.
White house fence jumper : what was supposed to happen?
According to this story in the Washington Post The surveillance team that’s supposed to watch the perimeter didn’t see the intruder jump the fence. There was supposed to be a guard dog set loose if the human guards couldn’t reach the intruder. The dog was available, but not used. The alarms which were supposed to alert everyone had been silenced because false alarms had disturbed the White House staff. The front door was left unlocked, nor was there a guard at the door.
Popcorn button on microwave oven. How does it work?
1 Put the bag in, press the “popcorn” button, and the microwave oven knows precisely when to shut off. How does it do this? In this SDMB thread from 2005, Q.E.D. said the oven measures the humidity level in the chamber. I’m a bit dubious that this is how it works. RH sensors are not all that reliable or accurate. Plus I would think the RH level would get very high very quickly soon after the corn starts popping.
