Thallium Isotopes Across the Smithian-Spathian Boundary: Evidence for Anoxia Throughout Most of the Early Triassic
1 Introduction The end-Permian mass extinction (EPME; ~251.9 Ma) is considered the largest mass extinction of the Phanerozoic (Bond and Grasby 2017; Sepkoski 1993). The massive disruption in life marks the boundary between the Paleozoic and Mesozoic Eras and a transition from the Paleozoic fauna to the Modern fauna (McGhee et al. 2004; Sepkoski 1993).

Anyone brave the snow this morning?
i rode today for the 1st time this week. 6 miles of my 8 mile commute route are along the north shore channel path from lawrence up to church st. in evanston. the chicago portion of the path had been half-assed plowed, but not salted so it was an icy rutted-footprint mess in spots, covered by the 1/2" of new snow we got last night for extra wintertime fun.
Performance Bike parent company declares bankruptcy
i believe the Lombard location will still be open, if you have a car and either live in the 'burbs or are inclined to drive out there. not really an option for me. i don't know about running out of shops...i have a couple that i really like relatively close to me, plus three more that i can think of off the top of my head within the same radius.
Performance Bike parent company declares bankruptcy
The parent company of Performance Bike and Nashbar, ASI has filed for chapter 11: https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industry-news/2018/11/15/ase-owner-... TLDR version of the article: They plan to close some stores, but not all. Not sure if anyone has any insight on the Lincoln Park, Northbrook and Schaumburg stores as the article doesn't specify which locations are impacted.
Will Elston Protected Lanes Be Repaved?
I was curious if anyone knew if the new Elston protected bike lanes will be repaved? It's nice to have the separation, but it's a bit rough. Just curious if resurfacing was part of the initiative. Tags: ▶ Reply to This
Cyclist Struck by CTA Bus Friday (8-10-18) Recovering
I hope she sues CTA. And I hope it's a big payment. This is not going to be an easy crash to recover from with a fractured skull. It's hard not to get angry when this happens over and over again. And last week's tragedy? What is happening to the investigation in the crash that killed Angela? And the week before - why wasn't the driver that doored Luster ticketed? And what about the driver that was too close to Luster when they should have been at least 3 feet. And what does the CPD have to say?

LFT Separation Ardmore to Montrose
The whole thing is frustrating me every time I bike it now. Even with the new markings from Ardmore to Foster, most people are completely ignoring them. The designated running path is too narrow for runners and walkers going in both directions to be on the same path, especially when the large groups are out. Plus, it now seems like people feel safer since the path is "separated" so they bring out their baby carts and their whole family and stretch across the nice, wide path.
So Sad. Such a waste.
I passed this on the sidewalk while walking to work. It's a bicycle set-up for decorative purposes. Including a Brooks saddle that is destined never to be used. My first thought was how sad for that saddle to never see any miles. Tags: ▶ Reply to This
New (or New-To-You) Bike Day! Post Your New Love Here!
I'd come to rely on Lyft too much. Too much $, too much gas-powered transportation. Just too much. I needed something to bring me to the oyster happy hours I've come to love, my constant search for tacos like they make back home, going to all the great (free!) Smithsonian museums, groaning as I pass the WH (given the current resident), etc. Basically, to get to know my new city and love it almost as much as I love Chicago.
Downtown Chicago double-parkers, beware: Fines to triple to $300
At the behest of downtown Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd), the Committee on Pedestrian and Traffic Safety on Monday moved to triple — from $100 to $300 — the fine for parking or loading in a lane of traffic or bike lane.
LFT Separation Ardmore to Montrose
The planned bike path route has many sharp turns and detours closer to the lake. This doesn't seem very realistic. If this is enforced, I may take streets south to Montrose and pick up the LFT there. I don't think this is what the public had in mind for the trail separation project.
