Sean McGoey’s Biography

Currently: Data reporter at the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Covering Richmond and statewide stories, like spiking opioid overdose deaths all over Virginia or a local tax cut designed to entice voters to support a casino proposal less than six months after they rejected the casino at the polls.

Previously: Editorial fellow at the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. Part of the reporting team on the Pandora Papers, an investigation into the offshore finance industry conducted by 600 reporters from around the globe. Host and producer of ICIJ's podcast, "Meet the Investigators."

Master's degree from the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism — part of the the Roy W. Howard Fellowship's inaugural class. Bachelor's in economics from the University of Virginia.
