A Charlie Brown Friendsgiving
One of our favorite Thanksgiving traditions is hosting a Charlie Brown Friendsgiving party. It’s not a huge affair, but it’s sweet and it’s simple, and one we look forward to each year! In case you’ve never seen A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, here’s the basic storyline. Charlie Brown has plans with his family to go to his Grandma’s house for Thanksgiving dinner when Peppermint Patty suddenly invites herself over to Charlie Brown’s house for dinner, along with several other friends.
Celebrating the Olympics
We have a family tradition of throwing together a viewing party for the opening ceremony of the Olympics. It’s usually just our little family of 4, sitting in the living room with TV trays, eating food from the host country. It’s usually very low production value but so much fun to make it a whole experience! Depending on the time difference, sometimes we just watch a recording, rather than live, which has its advantages because, to be honest, some of it can get a bit boring to watch for kids.

The Perfect Beginner’s Valentine's Craft
I love craft projects and am rarely not in the middle of one. Over the years, I have tried just about every type of craft there is. So believe me when I say that hand embroidery is one of the easiest beginner crafts! When dabbling in the crafting world, people tend to gravitate towards crafts involving paper (who hasn’t tried their hand at scrapbooking?!). However, I think paper crafts are the least forgiving of all and I definitely would not start with that.
Splatter Studios In and Around Atlanta
Each year, on the last day of our summer vacation, my two daughters and I celebrate “girl day.”It’s a day we’ve dedicated to spend together, just the three of us, doing something we all enjoy.Although I’m lucky that they have similar interests, it’s sometimes hard to find an activity they will both enjoy with their whole hearts because they are four years apart in age. Depending on the phase of life, four years can feel like forty years (hello, 1 and 5-year-olds and 9 and 13-year-olds!).
Hosting a Glow Foam Party:: Everything You Need to Know
My daughter, Emmie, has a November birthday. She requested a glow dance party to celebrate so I started googling local DJs and stumbled across Foam Palooza. We took one look at their black light glowing foam party and suddenly, a regular glow dance party felt boring in comparison. Since it’s generally pretty cold in November, we went back and forth about how we could make this party happen.
Best Kept $2 Laundry Secret
Best Kept $2 Laundry Secret I have always held firm to the belief that kids should get to be kids, and that includes getting dirty, even if they’re in the most beautiful clothes in their closets. While I put bibs on them if they were sitting at a table, I was never above passing them that red popsicle at the playground where no bibs could be found. I also loooooved dressing my kids up every. single. day.
5 Ways to Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week is the first full week of May. I love sending my girls’ teachers little treats all year long, but I never pass up a chance to shower them with a little extra love during this official week of appreciation! Over the years, I have celebrated this week in a variety of different ways. One year, I helped organize take-home meals for every teacher in the school for the whole week (that was quite a feat!). I have co-hosted countless luncheons and treat bars/buffets at school.
Five Ways To Celebrate St. Patrick's Day
Unpopular opinion, but I’ve never been a fan of the leprechaun shenanigans (or naughty elves, but I digress). Something about encouraging mischief just never sat well with me. I do, however, love holidays and St. Patrick’s Day is no exception! Lottery Scratch-Off Tickets: If I’m lucky, I even score the rainbow-colored ones that say, Lucky. Lucky Charms: I’ve made a myriad of recipes that involve the cereal over the years, but I always come back to the simple box (or individual cup) and bars.
A Shift in Parenting
A Shift in Parenting My daughter is 15 years old and a freshman in high school. I recently attended a “parenting through high school” seminar that really changed my parenting lens. One of the biggest takeaways for me was, “kids should be 100% independent by senior year.” However, independence does not equate to having any rules or guidance.
Leveled Up Store-Bought Goodies
Leveled Up Store-Bought Goodies We are coming into the “bring something” season…holiday parties, family dinners, potlucks, and more! In an ideal world, you’d spend hours making the perfect homemade something to take to every party you might be invited to this season. But in my world, I barely have time for a quick shower, let alone time to make something homemade to take with me. My solution?
A Charlie Brown Friendsgiving
I know I’m in the minority here, but I am a Halloween then Thanksgiving THEN Christmas gal, through and through! I take down the scary but leave up the fall décor and enjoy the better part of November fully in Thanksgiving mode.
Pickleball and the Pickle Platter
I have a new love. Her name is pickleball and it was love on first try! When we were at the beach this summer, I spied an 8:00 a.m. intro to pickleball class on the club’s calendar.
A Trip to Buc-ee's
Although Buc-ee’s has been around since 1982 (according to Wikipedia), I first heard of it last year at my annual favorite things Christmas party with a group of girlfriends. At the party, we each bring 3 of our favorite things, present them to the group, then have a white elephant-esque gift exchange to see who will take home the new goodies. Last year, one of my friends brought an assortment of things from Buc-ee’s. Another girlfriend quickly chimed in to exclaim she too loves Buc-ee’s.
