I have a couple old typewriters, and the way they type cannot be compared to a computer, but they really aren't practical.
How is social media changing news?
Practically, social media means a lot of focus on the header, and fitting as much information into as few words as possible.

What does it mean to be a journalist?
Journalism is story telling, and being a journalist means telling the right stories.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Google Docs and Wordpress are the tools of the trade
Why did you become a journalist?
Journalism was not my goal, but writing was. I like telling stories, real and imaginary, and journalism lets you tell thousands of stories.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
When I first started out I had to cover Ben Carson's inauguration as HUD director, and learned a lot on the fly.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Find a niche and become the expert.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Probably reading a book or working in my yard
