Capturing the Hidden Short-Range Order in Amorphous Oxide Interfaces That Directs Quasi-Epitaxial Thin-Film Growth
As solid-state device architectures become increasingly complex, buried interfaces play a critical role in determining thin-film texture, morphology, and defect formation. However, resolving the structural features that control growth on nominally amorphous interlayers remains challenging because it requires three-dimensional sensitivity at high spatial resolution.

Low-dimensional magnetic systems have received significant interest due to their high scalability and energy efficiency for future electromagnetic applications. However, low-dimensional magnetism at finite temperature is subject to Mermin-Wagner fluctuations, which make its realization highly challenging. Here, we propose structural modulation in the thin-film structure of an orthoferrite system to achieve a high low-dimensional magnetic response at room temperature.
