Scott Goldstein’s Biography

Scott Goldstein is a City Hall reporter and blogger for The Dallas Morning News. He spent most of his first seven years at the paper reporting on crime and police, including the Dallas Police Department and other area law enforcement agencies, and he helped launch the popular Crime Blog.

He has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, NPR and Investigation Discovery in recent years to discuss his coverage of various crime stories of national interest. In 2011, he was awarded the Dallas Bar Association Stephen Philbin Award for a spot news story on police dangers of domestic violence calls. Scott was promoted in August 2013 to the Dallas City Hall beat.

Prior to working at The News, Scott worked as an intern at The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe and The Richmond Times-Dispatch. He was born and raised in Reisterstown, Maryland, a suburb of Baltimore, and he is the middle child of three boys. He grew up rooting for the Orioles and the Ravens and reading The Baltimore Sun. He remains a rabid (and obnoxious) Baltimore sports fan.

He graduated in 2005 from the University of Maryland, where he majored in Journalism and served as Editor in Chief of the daily student newspaper, The Diamondback. Scott lives in the Cedars neighborhood of Dallas with his fiancée and four rescue pugs.
