WHAT IS KNOWN? Outpatient cardiac rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary, evidence-based intervention shown to improve health outcomes and quality of life when used among patients who have had a qualifying heart disease event or procedure. Historically, participation in cardiac rehabilitation among eligible patients and completion of 36 or more sessions among those who initiate it has been low, with considerable disparities observed by geography and patient characteristics.
