Macrocyclization of native peptides through (thio)urea crosslinking of two amines
Abstract Cyclopeptides have emerged as promising candidates for drug development. However, owing to the scarcity of efficient cyclization strategies for natural peptides, the development of diverse cyclopeptides remains a formidable challenge. In this study, a variety of macrocyclic peptides featuring (thio)urea bridges are developed through the site-selective lysine‑lysine crosslinking of native peptides, employing N, N’-carbonyldiimidazole or N, N’-thiocarbonyldiimidazole as bridging reagents.
First phylogenetic characterization of unusual bacterial taxa detected in ticks
Abstract Ticks are significant vectors of zoonotic pathogens and harbor diverse microbial communities. The ecological origin of unusual bacteria, whether derived from the host, environment, human-associated sources, or tick-associated microbiota, remains uncertain. This study aimed to phylogenetically characterize unusual bacteria present in ticks infesting cattle, goats, sheep, dogs, domestic fowls, and bats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan.
Identification of natural TLR4 modulators through network pharmacology and molecular modeling in SARS-CoV-2 Acinetobacter baumannii co-infection
Abstract Viral–bacterial co-infection with SARS-CoV-2 and Acinetobacter baumannii exacerbates hyperinflammation via Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)-mediated immune pathways. Using network pharmacology, an integrated protein–protein interaction network identified 30 key inter-species hubs comprising viral, bacterial, and human host proteins, with TLR4 achieving a high MCC score (722), highlighting its high topological centrality as a host immune target.
Melatonin seed priming enhanced drought tolerance in rapeseed ( Brassica napus L.) cultivars
Abstract Drought stress poses a major challenge to sustainable agriculture, and seed priming with melatonin has shown potential to mitigate stress damage in crops. However, the effects of melatonin priming (MP) on drought tolerance in rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) remain underexplored, particularly under field conditions. In this study, two rapeseed cultivars, Shiraali and Pakola, were primed with melatonin and tested under irrigated and drought stress conditions.
