Shane Townsend’s Biography

I tell stories to promote mindful participation in and conservation of wild places, wild life, and related traditions. In addition to the United States, I've lived in Bolivia, the Philippines, and Kenya and have traveled to more than two dozen countries. My work has been published by MeatEater, Garden & Gun, Field & Stream, USA TODAY Hunt & Fish, Hatch, Native Peoples, Cabela's, Sporting Classics, Americas Magazine, Canoe & Kayak, Kayak Angler, and many others. Member of Professional Outdoor Media Association, Outdoor Writers Association of America, Texas Outdoor Writers Association. Certified Texas Master Naturalist.My education includes a BA in anthropology/sociology, a master's in urban and regional planning, and a post-grad diploma in international humanitarian assistance.
