Shani Friedman’s Biography

Born in Canada and based in New York, I'm a writer, editor and tenant advocate in New York City Housing Court. I spent several years in book publishing before getting my law degree so that I could do public interest legal work. When I'm not assistant tenants who are physically and/or mentally impacted, I write about food, theatre, pop culture and more. My writing has appeared in Time Out NY, theasy.com, The Forward, NY Press, NY Irish Arts, Honeysuckle Magazine, Your Tango, Huffington Post and elsewhere.
