Abstract Borehole expansion method is a widely used, non-blasting excavation method commonly employed for vibration control in densely built areas. In this study, a three-dimensional numerical model was developed using Abaqus to systematically simulate the expansion and cracking processes under varying borehole distance (DH), row distance (DR), and two expansion sequences. The distribution of the stress and strain fields within the section was analyzed across different parameters.
