1. Introduction Peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) causes severe and highly contagious disease in both domestic and wild small ruminants, such as sheep and goats. PPRV belongs to the family Paramyxoviridae of the genus Morbillivirus, and its genome consists of negative-sense single-stranded RNA. The genome encodes six structural proteins, viz.
