Why did you become a journalist?
Loved to interview, write, research, break news, explain things and entertain. Loved the variety. Also...idealism. Is it OK to say that?
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes. Biggest scoop was predicting who would be Homecoming Queen! By three months.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Two Florida stories. 1. Expose of a "Countess" with an illegit title, then being "Banned from Boca." 2. A migrant worker turned CNN Hero.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Follow your heart. Not your followers!

Involved travel writing in Thailand and Singapore.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Not the worst, but when reviewing novels, get pitches for cookbooks and Hollywood bios. Study HARO and Muck Rack! (Good recipes though.)
What's your favorite drink?
Dr Pepper (guilty pleasure.)
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Enjoying live music, indoors and out. Also the beach. Often tending orchids, palms and bromeliads on my patio, year round.
