Moon Farm opening day
Sunday is the last day of September, but Saturday was the first day for Moon Farm to open up shop this year. They say it was a much different opening day than last year, that one was super rainy and muddy. It was nothing but sunny skies and smiles over there this year. "Everybody loves Halloween. It seems like it's just kind of one of those times of year when everybody’s happy and you just don't see any grumpy people so it's really neat," said David Moon, Moon Farms.
Tour of the Moon rolls into Grand Junction
If it seemed like there were more bike riders on the roads Saturday, that's because thousands of them wanted to take on the Colorado National Monument. The Tour of the Moon bicycle tour rolled into Grand Junction, where riders took on the challenge of riding up Rimrock Drive. Those on the tour started at the east entrance and rode down by Fruita before they got to the finish line. The event has been sold out the last five years, and that means over 2,000 bicyclists pedaled up the National Monument.

Harmony Acres: Unbridled Potential
Elisabeth Ninemire has been going to Harmony Acres for several years. She says the horses there have changed her life. “I love it so much because I get to work with horses," Ninemire said. She says the thousand pound animals treat her pretty well. And that's exactly what she needed. “I was emotionally unstable honestly. I had to go to a counselor a lot but that didn’t exactly help," Ninemire said. Elisabeth has autism. And she's had to deal with some hard times.

Woman says grandson also killed by Shaun O'Byrn; Case re-opened
The case of Samuel Duncan, now reopened. "When Nicolas died, the investigator reopened the case, because we asked him to. I hope that they find out that baby Sam was killed," said Samuel Duncan's grandmother, Linda Duncan. All of this, after two-month-old Nicholas O'Byrne was allegedly killed by his father Shaun O'Byrne. Young Sam was also in Shaun's care at the time of his death. "I really think he was killed, I don't think it was natural causes," Duncan said.

Fire danger still high despite seasons changing
The Grand Junction Fire Department says to keep an eye on fire conditions this weekend. A red flag warning is already in effect for Saturday, and gusty winds are expected. The fire department says fuels around the valley are still dry, which means a fire can start and spread fast. "It's easy for people to transition from thinking about wildfire to moving towards the holidays and Halloween and Fall, but those fire conditions right now in our valley are still really dangerous.
