“I’m happier, smarter, and have better understanding and confidence of who I am and what I’m capable of achieving.” That’s the heartfelt response one teenager provided when asked how they’d been impacted by the Shineforth Child & Family Services and its residential program in Richmond. About 50 youth ages 11-17 reside at Shineforth’s Child & Family Healing Center at any given moment. Treatment times vary for each youth served, and the average stay is about a little more than nine months.
There are more than 5,500 children and teens in foster care in Virginia, including right here in communities throughout NOVA. With your support, these kids are capable of anything.
