From the Hip: All-American Game Takeaways
It was another banner year for the Prep Baseball All-American Game, as the fourth annual event in Miami delivered the kind of edge-of-your-seat baseball that has become a signature of this exclusive stage. Only 45 of the most talented prospects in the 2027 and 2028 classes were invited to take the field, creating a setting where every at-bat, every pitch and every player carried significance.
2029 Rankings Update: Super Sophomore Summer
A full summer of evaluation removed any notion that the buzz surrounding the 2029 class was simply hype. This young group consistently showed the type of talent capable of challenging the best classes in the country over the next three years. While normal rankings cycles may feature only a handful of players who ultimately emerge as legitimate candidates for the No. 1 spot, this class has already separated itself in that regard.
2027 Overall Rankings: The Summer Circuit
The 2027 class continues to separate itself as one of the most talented groups in recent memory, with the strength of the class beginning up the middle of the diamond. More than 20 shortstops are featured within the top-100, a remarkable representation of depth at premium positions that rivals the heralded 2025 class in both overall talent and impact potential.

On Campus Rankings: Fall 2026
LSU Schmidt’s 6-foot-4, 210-pound frame is trending in the right direction, holding its physicality while presenting a leaner, more athletic look. Working from a simple, repeatable delivery, the reclassified southpaw is one of the youngest arms in his class. Early on this spring, he sat 91-95-plus with a heavy fastball that flashed arm-side life in a quality performance.

USA 18U Trials: Impact Position Players
The 2027 class continues to separate itself as one of the deepest and most dynamic groups of position players in recent memory, and the USA Baseball 18U National Team Trials only reinforced that sentiment. Bringing together many of the nation's premier prospects on one field, the event served as an invaluable checkpoint in the evolution of a class that has already generated significant attention from both the college and professional scouting communities.
Future Games: Impact 75 (Pitchers)
With the 2026 Prep Baseball Future Games now in the rearview mirror, the evaluations continue to take shape as the industry's premier scouting event once again delivered on its reputation. Nearly 500 college coaches packed LakePoint Sports to get an up-close look at the nation's top uncommitted talent, and every pitcher who took the mound had an opportunity to elevate his profile.
USA 18U Trials: Impact Pitchers
With more than 40 pitchers taking the mound at the USA 18U National Team Trials, there was no shortage of quality arms to evaluate. Quick arms, athletic movers, and present stuff were common throughout the group, with many showing traits that point toward continued development. While there are still plenty of pitchers across the country left to evaluate before next summer, this look offered a better early snapshot of the class, particularly when compared to last year's group.

2026 Future Games: Shooter Hunt's Cheat Sheet
The Prep Baseball Future Games is the premier recruiting event in amateur baseball, bringing together hundreds of college coaches and the nation's top uncommitted prospects in one place, LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA. That much talent in one event is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. Before every Future Games, I build a list of players I can't afford to miss.

Earlier this week, Prep Baseball named its ninth all-time National Player of the Year and we’re finally closing the book on the 2026 spring baseball season by naming our 2026 All-Prep Baseball Team, a roster of 25 of the country’s most productive and decorated prospects. With the immense help of our state directors stationed across the nation, we’ve been hard at work assembling this robust list of performers from the high school season.
2026 MLB Draft: Prep Report
Today, we're examining how the 2026 MLB Draft broke down this year with fewer prep players selected overall as the NIL and the four-year college development path continues to trend as the most-trusted path by decision-makers on Draft Day. FROM A DISTANCE After 42 high school players came off the board on Day One, the prep market slowed considerably through rounds five to 10, with just 15 additional selections.
2026 MLB Draft: Day Two Forecast

MLB Draft Primer: Risk/Reward Recruiting Classes
Every year, the MLB Draft redraws the recruiting landscape across college baseball, not just MLB orgs and their farm systems. For the top collegiate conference in baseball, the SEC keeps stacking elite recruiting classes and it's become as much about navigating draft risk as it is identifying talent. Landing a handful of top-100 prospects is one thing, actually getting enough of them to campus is an entirely different challenge.
2026 MLB Draft: June's Mock Draft
With the college and spring high school seasons in the books and last week’s official MLB Draft Combine behind us, there's nothing left that stands between us and the 2026 MLB Draft anymore. This year's Draft will take place during MLB All-Star Week again, beginning Saturday, June 11 in Philadelphia, featuring rounds one through four, and the remaining 15 rounds will be held on July 12.
NPI: Impact 50, Class of 2029
He looked so at home against the best players in the ‘28 class that it almost went forgotten that Wuis was walking around 8th grade hallways just a month ago. The 5-foot-10, 155-pound shortstop bounced around on both sides of the ball while astoundingly taking some professional at-bats and turning around some power-arms with ease. Sturdy on the back side with a leg-lift stride, the hands work naturally with some flick and provide length in the zone.
2027 MLB Draft: West Coast Buzz
The summer showcase circuit opened out west and the Class of 2027 wasted no time. Across the SoCal ProCase and the Four Corners ProCase events, the headliners reaffirmed their billing while a wave of new names forced their way into the Day One conversation for next summer. Here’s the West Coast buzz worth carrying into the months ahead. Two early-summer Prep Baseball ProCase events set the tone for the '27 MLB Draft cycle, and both delivered on the promise of a deep, athletic class.
2029 Overall Rankings Update
Ranking a class four years out is an exercise in tracking trajectory, and the June update of the Class of 2029 board is the first real read on how these prospects translated young, early looks in the offseason into real freshman-year production. Winter showcases gave us baselines and then the spring season gave us context.
NPI: Impact 70, Class of 2028
Scott, the No. 5-ranked player in the ‘28 class, built a strong case as the potential top player in the country with his performance at LakePoint. A true 6-foot-3, 215-pounds with a pristine frame that should carry considerable strength in coming years, the young Texan touched 98 mph in his start for Team Elite while belting a full collection of extra-base hits including a resounding opposite field grand slam.
NPI: 2027 Draft Report
For years, the Prep Baseball National Program Invitational has served as the unofficial starting line of the summer circuit and the first major proving ground for the next year's MLB Draft class. As the calendar flips from spring to summer, the nation's top prospects converge with one goal in mind: to separate themselves from an already talented field and begin building momentum toward draft day.
2028 Overall Rankings Update
Ranking a class three years out is an exercise in tracking trajectory, not declaring conclusions, and the June update of the Class of 2028 board is the loudest reminder of that yet. The winter workouts and spring performances helped us build to this summer where we'll find out which prospects really are the best in class, as all roads lead to LakePoint and the Prep Baseball Future Games at the end of July, teeing up the recruiting window opening for this class at the start of August.
Almost Famous: 27 Helium Hopefuls (2027)
Focused on rising high school seniors in the 2027 class, this list serves as a roadmap for the next 12 months, highlighting prospects with a legitimate opportunity to generate significant draft buzz, gain helium throughout the summer showcase circuit, and elevate their standing as the industry turns its attention toward the next draft cycle.
The Case for No. 1: Class of 2027
The search for the undisputed No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2027 is officially on, and the depth of elite talent makes this year's debate one of the most compelling in recent memory. This class is loaded with players who boast true five-tool potential, from dynamic shortstops like Dylan Seward, who many believed would have been the top 2026 prospect, to powerful center fielders and bat-to-ball savants.

MLB Draft Buzz: Unprecedented Southpaws
In the modern Major League Baseball draft, scarcity and projection often drive value, but few demographics blend both quite like the high school left-handed pitcher. 2026 MLB Draft: May's Mock Draft
With the college regular season nearing its conclusion and the prep spring slate winding down, our look at the 2026 MLB Draft has come into clearer focus. UCLA SS Roch Cholowsky (Hamilton HS, AZ, 2023) remains atop the board for the White Sox, but plenty has shifted underneath him, with prep shortstops, college bats, and a fresh wave of pitching now jockeying for position inside the first 25 picks.
MLB Draft Buzz: California Chronicles
It is the deepest high school talent pool in the country, and it shows up every year in the draft. Not just at the top, but throughout the board with impact players, projection arms, and a long list of follows who turn into real decisions. The volume is part of it, but it’s also the consistency of the player types: athletic up-the-middle guys, polished hitters, and a steady run of pitchers with traits you can work with. There is a reason California produces more big leaguers than any other state.
