Social media is the future and it completely drives the narratives nowadays. What we see on social media is what we believe.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means letting people know the truth.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Siddharth Roy is a civil engineer, consultant (invitee) to Rashtriya Raksha University under the Ministry of Home Affairs, short story writer, columnist (for various leading publications) and a contemporary affairs commentator.

Why did you become a journalist?

I love writing about contemporary affairs and social issues. That compelled me to follow this path.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I wrote articles for the newspaper.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

The article I wrote in India Today on the Northeast becoming central to India's strategic future.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Always report and write based on true facts and never practice yellow journalism or do fake PR for TRP.

What's your favorite drink?

Mango Shake

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Reading books or hanging out with friends.
