Non-sewered sanitation systems reshape microplastics into chemically complex and reactive contaminants
Abstract Non-sewered sanitation systems (NSSSs) are gaining global attention as decentralized solutions, yet the transformation of microplastics (MPs) within these systems remains poorly understood. Here, we investigate MP characteristics in the influent and effluent of two NSSSs using laser direct infrared spectroscopy, Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS), and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
A long-term organotypic slice culture model of patient high-grade glioma preserving tumor heterogeneity and architecture, and specificity of CAR T cell targeting
CONFLICT OF INTEREST. C.E.B. and M.E.B. are inventors on patent no. WO2017066481A1 titled "Chimeric antigen receptors containing a chlorotoxin domain", which is associated with the CLTX-directed CAR T cell, and for which they receive royalty payments. Additionally, patents associated with the IL13Rα2-directed CAR T cell have been licensed by Mustang Bio., Inc., for which C.E.B. receives royalty payments. The other authors declare no competing interests.
Joint impact of pathological burden and cognitive resilience on Alzheimer’s disease risk
Abstract Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is conventionally framed as a consequence of progressive amyloid-β and tau pathology, yet substantial heterogeneity in cognitive outcome at any given level of pathological burden indicates that cognitive resilience constitutes a parallel determinant of disease risk. Here we test whether pathology and resilience function as independent and synergistic dimensions of incident AD dementia.
Rehmannia glutinosa Extracts Enhances Ketone Bodies Expression and Alleviates Ulcerative Colitis as A Novel Ketogenic Functional Food
1 Introduction The ketogenic diet (KD) is a dietary regimen distinguished by its low carbohydrate intake and high fat content, which forces the liver to metabolize fats into ketone bodies as the primary energy source (Meng et al. 2024). The ketogenic diet has been applied in the prevention and treatment of conditions such as epilepsy and cancer (Neal et al. 2008; Qin, Huang, et al. 2024).
The association between cannabis use and brain reward anticipation: a 12-month longitudinal study of adults and adolescents who use cannabis and age-matched controls | Neuropsychopharmacology
Abstract Substance use has been associated with blunted brain responses to non-drug rewards, but findings in people who use cannabis are mixed. Adolescents may be uniquely vulnerable to cannabis-related disruption to reward processing due to ongoing neuromaturation, but longitudinal research is lacking.
In Situ Programming of the Tumor Microenvironment to Alleviate Immunosuppression for Pancreatic Cancer Immunotherapy
1 Introduction Over the past few years, STING (stimulator of interferon genes) receptors have emerged as pivotal activators of both innate and adaptive immune responses against cancer through the activation of the interferon (IFN) signaling pathway.[1] A common therapeutic strategy for leveraging the STING pathway involves the direct delivery of agonists to tumor sites.

Online Comprehensive Two-Dimensional Liquid Chromatography/Quadrupole Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry-Based Metabolic Profiling and Comparison Enabling the Characterization of 1146 Ginsenosides and More Explicit Differentiation of Ginseng
1. Introduction Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Functional herbs serve as vital sources for a variety of food supplements, healthcare products, and cosmetics. (1−3) The chemical components in functional herbs are generally composed of multiple categories of primary and secondary plant metabolites, such as the phenolic acids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, and the large-molecule polysaccharides, etc.
Closure methods for large defects after gastrointestinal endoscopic submucosal dissection
Introduction Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) are two commonly utilized endoscopic surgical procedures for gastrointestinal (GI) lesions. Generally speaking, ESD is superior to EMR because of the higher en bloc and curative resection rates for large lesions. However, greater difficulties and risks exist in such cases. Post-procedural bleeding and perforation are among the most serious major adverse events (AEs) following ESD.
Impact of redox fluctuations on the spatial distribution of the microbial community in a forest soil: A lysimeter experiment
Abstract The soil microbial community is structured by several factors including environmental conditions such as varying water content, dissolved oxygen, and redox potential. Here, we experimentally investigate the impact of the redox regimes, i.e., oxic, fluctuating, or anoxic conditions, on the microbial community composition and probe the widespread hypothesis that the diversity of the redox fluctuating layer is greater than that of the zones with static redox conditions.

Investigation of Molecular Interactions Mechanism of Pembrolizumab and PD-1
Abstract : Human programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) is a checkpoint protein involved in the regulation of immune response. Antibodies are widely used as inhibitors that block the immune checkpoint, preventing strong immune responses. Pembrolizumab is an FDA-approved IgG4 antibody with PD-1 inhibitory ability for the treatment of melanoma. In this study, we investigated the effect of Pembrolizumab on the conformational changes in PD-1 using extensive molecular modeling and simulation approaches.
Land Subsidence in a Coastal City Based on SBAS-InSAR Monitoring: A Case Study of Zhuhai, China
Abstract : The superimposed effects of sea level rise caused by global warming and land subsidence seriously threaten the sustainable development of coastal cities. In recent years, an important coastal city in China, Zhuhai, has been suffering from severe and widespread land subsidence; however, the characteristics, triggers, and vulnerability assessment of ground subsidence in Zhuhai are still unclear.
