What was your first job as a journalist?
I was a speech writer and researcher for a politician. That was interesting.
How is social media changing news?
It risks devaluing news journalism, but it can also help disseminate the truth. It's a balancing act.
Who do you wish followed you?
Anyone who shares a love of cultural, nature-based and slow tourism.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Any of my articles on the cultural uniqueness of Bali, Indonesia.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
As an independent travel writer and editor, I am constantly reading the best journalism I can find to learn and grow.

I am happy to receive pitches any time, by email
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I receive many who don't even research the destination I cover, or even my name. That seems odd :)
What's your favorite drink?
Water, preferably rainwater

In my garden or at the beach
