Abstract In Industry 4.0, manufacturers increasingly use digital twins (DTs) to develop real-time representations of shop floors. However, the application of DTs in production planning remains limited. This paper proposes a DT-driven methodology for production planning that integrates planning engines, simulation, forecasting, and data-driven models. The decision model is formulated as a multi-echelon, multi-item capacitated lot-sizing problem (MMCLSP).
