What was your first job as a journalist?
A Features Reporter for Creamer Media.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes - many, many moons ago as a child.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Please email me, or my editor (chanel@engineeringnews.co.za)
What's your favorite social network?
Most likely Facebook, and then Instagram. In that order.
Why did you become a journalist?
I've always wanted to become a writer, so becoming a journalist - where you write about and share valuable information - just made sense.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did, from Grade 10 to 12. Tasks were not specific to each member, and it changed every year.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Journalism will kill you, but it will keep you alive. Push through the difficult days, and enjoy the better ones. Keep working hard!
When's the best time to pitch you?
During working hours, or to speak to me via my editor about a possible event or interview.
What's your favorite drink?
Always coca-cola! And coffee on the "bad" days.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I don't particularly read publications often, but I do love to read fantasy and young adult novels.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
I'm still working on developing my beat - I'll let you know as I know!
