Siobhán Dowling’s Biography

Hailing from Dublin, I’m a freelance journalist based in Berlin, where I’ve lived for over a decade.

I'm an editor at the Berlin Policy Journal and have previously worked as a staff editor at Spiegel International and Handelsblatt Global, and Germany correspondent for GlobalPost and CNBC Magazine, and have contributed regularly to The Guardian. I’ve written for several other publications, including The New York Times, Deutsche Welle, EUobserver, The Observer, The Irish Independent, The European, The Los Angeles Times, S Magazine, The Sunday Business Post and the Irish Times website.

I usually cover German politics, culture and society but I’ve also written about the Middle East, North Africa, France, Poland, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Kosovo, Norway, Hungary and the European Union.
