Sam Kraemer

With a professional journalism major and minor in sport management, I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in December 2015. Shortly thereafter, I began applying to journalism jobs across the country before landing a General Assignment reporting position at Newscenter1 in March 2016. Newscenter1 (KNBN) is the NBC affiliate in Rapid City, South Dakota. It's a long way from home, but I'm excited for this new adventure.

Preparing for this career was an exciting journey, too. To gain experience in broadcast, I interned at WISN-TV in Milwaukee and at WCCO-TV in Minneapolis. I also developed my writing skillset by reporting for The Minnesota Daily and the St. Paul Pioneer Press. My times as a sports writer will surely assist me in any facet of journalism, by teaching me to write concisely, creatively and on deadline. Those are skills that will help me in any profession, really.

Aside from journalism (and sports), I enjoy discovering new music, staying active, reading and hanging with friends. I grew up on Wisconsin sports, including the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Bucks. Moving to Minnesota changed my fanhood to the Gophers and Minnesota Wild, but I'll always stay true to my Wisconsin roots in everything else.
