Epilogue
Miranda waited just outside security at Nashville International Airport with her arms crossed, trying to hold back the excitement ready to bubble out of her. She hadn’t seen Jack in three weeks, the longest they’d been apart since they met six months earlier. A rush of people approached the security area, headed toward ground transportation and baggage claim. Miranda bounced on her toes and scanned each face, looking for the handsome man who belonged to her. She didn’t have to wait long.
So Wright, Ch 32
When Jack turned the corner and spotted Miranda’s truck parked at the curb across the street from his father’s house, his heart took a triple beat. He’d planned on checking in with Jen before heading straight to Warrior Homes, sure that was where she’d be spending her time. But Miranda had come to him. He wasn’t sure if he should be excited or unnerved. He entered the house, ears perked for her voice. It was coming from the kitchen, and she sounded happy. Upbeat.
So Wright, Ch 31
Miranda had stayed away one more night to do as Marty had suggested, get her head right before she faced Gypsy again. Now, she took a deep breath and stepped into her trailer. Gypsy looked up from her laptop at the kitchen table. Her gaze was hopeful but reserved. “Hey.” “Hey.” Miranda closed the door and tossed her duffel on the sofa where Gypsy had folded all the sheets and blankets and piled them in a corner.
So Wright, Ch 30
Jack took a deep breath of the thin, icy Denver air and raised his hand to knock. Roman Steele’s front door was a gorgeous, hand-carved slab of wood. The home itself was a modern marvel of steel, glass, and aged wood, situated on a hillside with a view of the Rockies. Easily worth millions. The door opened to Roman’s curious stare. He wore old jeans, a faded T-shirt, and bare feet, yet somehow still had a presence that said he was always in charge. “Jack.
So Wright, Ch 29
Miranda eked out the last two feet of welding wire along the connection of one storage container to another, creating a double-wide space of sixteen feet the length of the forty-five-foot metal box. This would make a nice open living space for someone. A veteran who’d given up his nice, normal, comfortable life to go off and fight in a war that ultimately allowed Miranda and every other American to live their own best life.
So Wright, Ch 28
It hadn’t even been twenty-four hours since Miranda had sped away from him, and Jack already felt like he’d been hit by a truck, bruised and achy. And guilty. So damn guilty. He was still torn over whether or not to believe she was involved. He’d even gone to the jail to confront Alex, but he’d refused to see Jack. He turned onto his father’s street and spotted what Jen said Jack had to see for himself—spools and spools of welding wire piled in his father’s driveway.
So Wright, Ch 27
Miranda pulled down the tailgate of her truck and sat on the edge. Spur’s parking lot was mostly empty but for the cars of the prep cooks and opening bartender. She was anxious to hear what Jack had to say about the arrest, but something about his choice of meeting place didn’t sit right with her. He should have made dinner plans or asked her to his hotel. The bar’s parking lot was just…odd. As if he would base where they went next off this conversation.
So Wright, Ch 26
Jack sat in the swing on the front porch of his childhood home, staring blankly at the sidewalk. He felt numb. His mind had stopped spinning, only to haze over. Jen pushed open the screen door and joined him on the swing, offering him a Corona with a lime. “Dad still napping?” he asked. She nodded, squeezed her own lime, and took a long drink of her beer. Good. Jack didn’t want him to hear any of this.
So Wright, Ch 25
Miranda was still feeling salty from her argument with Alex when she settled in on a beam with several other coworkers to eat lunch. Usually, she was the chatty one, asking them all about their families and hobbies. Since she couldn’t drum up the interest today, she prepared herself for another lunch hour of gossip about Jack’s appearance on the site and the rumors that he was there to shake things up. It won’t take long for him to show his colors.
So Wright, Ch 24
Jack cradled a cup of coffee between both hands at a café near his hotel as Klein slid into the booth across from him. Jack had fallen asleep after Miranda left for work and the investigator’s call had woken him. He hadn’t slept past eight a.m. in years. Now, at almost eleven, Jack grinned into his coffee. If he hadn’t already believed they were an amazing fit, watching her at Warrior Homes and with her family afterward had confirmed it. She might not know it yet, but they would be together.
So Wright, Ch 23
Miranda woke to the feel of Jack’s long, lean, naked body stretched along the back of hers. His morning erection pressed against her ass, making her smile. Their weekend together had been amazing. Jack spent his days with his family at home, his evenings with Miranda’s family and friends around the firepit, and his nights in Miranda’s bed.
So Wright, Ch 22
Miranda turned out of the last cul-de-sac of completed homes with nerves fluttering in her belly. Roman was clearly on board with her ideas and her ambitions, but Jack had been strangely silent, his only conversation a few words with Marty. He’d seemed keenly interested in the construction of the homes when they’d toured a few of the finished units, yet hadn’t asked one question, hadn’t offered one comment. He hadn’t even met Miranda’s gaze.
So Wright, Ch 21
Jack turned off Highway 65 and followed the GPS directions along surface roads toward the Warrior Homes building site. “Some pretty country out here.” His father sat in the passenger’s seat, a bit on the sedate side, but returning to himself a little more each day. Jack thought his dad might benefit from being around a construction site again. Specifically, one not run by Pinnacle. Jon wasn’t ready for that kind of wake-up call. “Very pretty,” Jack agreed.
So Wright, Ch 20
Miranda felt like she was coming down with the flu. Listless, melancholy, distracted, achy. She was surprised how despondent she felt after ending things with Jack. Like a light inside her had gone out. Sure, it had been the right thing to do. Letting things linger would have only ended up hurting them both. But that didn’t make the loss hurt any less. And the fact that she was pining for someone she’d known less than two weeks annoyed the hell out of her.

So Wright, Ch 19
Jack opened the front door of his father’s house with his heart at his feet and frustration still humming through his body. His nephews’ laughter floated down from the second floor, where he knew bath and bedtime probably had Jen wanting to tear her hair out. Now that he’d absorbed the impact of Miranda’s rejection, Jack pulled his phone from his pocket and texted her. I really want to talk more about this. I care about you. I know this is complicated, but we can do this.

So Wright, Ch 18
Miranda paced the waiting area of Bourbon Steak, an upscale restaurant in the heart of downtown Nashville, where the waiters wore black uniforms and white aprons. Where the tables were draped in linen and the drinks cost more than an entire meal at fifty different restaurants in town. She’d dressed as well as her wardrobe allowed: black jeans and a thin floral-print sleeveless blouse with small ruffles at the shoulders.
So Wright, Ch 17
Monday’s always seemed to be nonstop days for Jack’s architectural firm, and after visiting Pinnacle’s construction site this morning, Jack had been behind from the start. He’d moved his dad’s large computer screen into the family room and connected them to his laptop so he could hang with his dad while he got some work done. His dad was in his favorite recliner reading the paper when Jack heard the front door open and the kids rattle in.
So Wright, Ch 16
Miranda twisted and stretched into an impossibly crazy angle to make a weld at the corner of two freshly set beams. She felt like a sloth, slinking along the underside of a metal I beam on the twenty-sixth floor of the newest office building to grace the Nashville skyline, hooked into a harness that pulled on her in all the wrong places. It would have been a lot more comfortable if Jack hadn’t worked her over inch by luscious inch last night.
So Wright, Ch 15
Jack leaned against the fender of his car and crossed his arms as he stared up at Pinnacle’s largest ongoing project. He forced his mind from Miranda. Despite another amazing night together, she hadn’t waffled on her resistance to anything ongoing between them. But there were problems here too. Big ones. Problems draining the company of what little cash flow they’d had since Bruce bailed. Jack desperately wanted to plug the leaks. Klein pulled up behind Jack in a Lexus SUV.
Correct Ch 13
** I apologize, guys. Can’t seem to keep track of my chapters this time around.** Here is Ch 13. You have received ch 14 twice. *** Miranda clutched the necks of four beers between the fingers of each hand and thrust them overhead as she pushed through the door between the storage room and the bar. “We just got a shipment!” she yelled over the music. A rousing cheer rolled across the space, and Miranda popped the tops and slid the anticipated new IPA from a local brewery to customers down the bar.
So Wright, Ch 14
Jack felt like he’d been infused with helium. He barely felt the ground beneath his feet as he and Miranda half walked, half ran to the hotel. Holding hands. Stopping to kiss each other breathless. She called work to tell them she wouldn’t be coming back tonight. There was no small talk, no more apologies, just the two of them wanting each other so badly, they couldn’t think about anything else. This was so unlike anything he’d ever experienced. This frenzied need for each other.
So Wright, Ch 13

So Wright, Ch 12
Escaping Gypsy had been easier than Miranda had expected. For the last three days, she’d gone to the Warrior Homes site directly from her Pinnacle day job to inch the project along. By the time she’d returned home a little past eight and taken a shower, Gypsy was passed out on the sofa, which led to the likelihood of her job as a club manager being yet another lie.
So Wright, Ch 11
Miranda floated to consciousness confused. She didn’t know when she’d fallen asleep. Or where she was. Or, shit, whose warm body she was draped over. No, no, no. She didn’t do this. She didn’t sleep with men. She had sex with them, then left. Sleeping hadn’t been part of the equation since… She didn’t even know. A decade ago? Panic streaked through her stomach. Her mind started a gymnastics routine to figure out how to leave without this guy waking up.
So Wright, Ch 9
Miranda turned onto the property hoping against hope that she’d find Gypsy’s Jeep gone, right along with her sister. Miranda still felt bruised from Marty’s scolding, but that didn’t mean she’d changed her mind. She crested the rise, spotted Gypsy’s Jeep right where she’d parked it two days ago, and slammed her palm against the steering wheel. “Dammit.” Miranda had successfully avoided Gypsy over the weekend by putting in crazy hours at Warrior Homes. But there was no getting around her now.
So Wright, Ch 10
This was crazy. Jack knew it, but this attraction felt beyond his control. He paced the width of the landing just outside the wide glass foyer to the hotel. Tell Violet to cover for me, would you? She’ll know what I mean. Her last words reminded him of just how little he knew about her. He couldn’t even google her since he didn’t know her last name. Over the weekend, he’d relived their night together a hundred times in his head.
So Wright, Ch 8
A lawyer, a forensic accountant, and an investigator sat across the conference table from Jack. It sounded a little like the beginning of a joke, but there wasn’t a whiff of amusement in the room. Over the weekend, Jack had read through all the information the team had collected, then combed through the company books until his vision blurred.
So Wright, Ch 7
My Darkest Days blasted through Miranda’s earbuds, and the spark of her torch on metal glowed green through her welding visor.
So Wright, Ch 6
Miranda found herself singing along with the radio on the drive home. Smiling as she passed through the handmade gate of Marty’s property, where she lived in one of three trailers. She felt loose and light. Thoroughly satisfied and happy. No reservations over her night with Jack. Her only regret—he wouldn’t be staying in town. Her only issue—he was clearly a man she could get attached to. And that combination didn’t work for Miranda.
New Series!
Hey there, I’m excited to tell you about my new series coming out this year. This series has a little of everything: romance, adventure, suspense, family saga, bromance, conspiracy and paranormal! Book one: HOT BLOODED will release March 1st! All the Phoenix Rising books can be read as stand alone novels, but readers will get a deeper experience if they are read in order.
So Wright, Ch 5
Jack was exhausted, but it was a good, sated, blissful kind of exhaustion. He lay sideways on the bed, his head on Miranda’s stomach. Her fingers skimmed through his hair and traced his face. He could still hear her heart tripping from her last orgasm. This night had been a one-of-a-kind marathon. Sunrise crept into the sky, signaling their limited time left together before the world intruded, and Jack found himself growing anxious about parting, worried he’d never see her again.
So Wright, Ch 4
Miranda smiled at the shock in Jack’s expression. He definitely didn’t do this much. It might be one reason she’d decided to go home with him. And she could use some different in her life. Her past choices in men sure hadn’t worked out. His profession was intriguing. It made her want to talk about her real, seven-to-four job in construction. But she liked the vibe she was getting from him now, and, in her experience, men got a little squirrely when she mentioned she worked on a construction crew.
So Wright, Ch 3
Despite Jack’s professed determination, he wasn’t sure he planned on sticking it out until last call. As interesting as Miranda was, his mood had been dampened by the forensic accountant’s report. The millions his father’s business partner had embezzled was clearly the main concern. But Jack had uncovered another insidious draw on the company’s resources. The supply costs on their current job, an office building on Nashville’s skyline, were way too high.

So Wright, Ch 2
Miranda Wright turned her back on the bar’s rowdy customers and pulled the tap on a local IPA while swaying to the music booming through the bar. 90 Proof was rocking the house tonight, and between the popular local band and the star-studded lineup at the Grand Ole Opry this month, Spur’s Saloon was stuffed to the rafters every night. Miranda certainly couldn’t complain about the tips, but after a full day on the construction site, these long, loud nights really took it out of her.

Teaser Lexi couldn’t speak. She could only shake her head. She’d dreamt of this moment. Of the ear-shattering applause, the standing ovation, the recognition, the validation. And now she was too overwhelmed to move. Backstage, Lexi covered her mouth with both hands and started crying. Rubi bounced on her toes beside Lexi, clapping and screaming to be heard over the applause, “Didn’t I tell you? Didn’t I tell you?” She squeezed Lexi’s arm. “Good-bye Galliano! Hello LaCroix.

Teaser But Lexi already knew she couldn’t change anything now. All the plans and props were in motion. The dresses made. The choreography decided. The models rehearsed. She’d made this decision weeks ago. “Lexi.” Lexi stopped fussing with a strand of lace that wouldn’t fall right on the dress worn by the fifth model, Kylie, and looked toward Rubi’s voice. She stood near one of the makeup tables in the LaCroix section backstage at the Luxe Couture Bridal Show.

Relentless (Renegades, Book 4) by Skye Jordan
I've been a fan of this series from book 1, page 1 of Reckless!! And I was honored to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and true opinion. With each book Skye gives us more and more of the hotness of the men and women of the Renegades Stunt "family". I say family because that's what all of them are to each other. Through all of the books, I've maintained my "loyalty" to Jax because in my mind he's been the Hottest of Hot men in this group.
