What does this paper add to the literature? This paper shows that stoma-related bother is associated with overall stoma dysfunction. Long-term prediction on which patients will experience stoma-related bother is uncertain, therefore, focus should be on preventing stoma-related symptoms and optimising stoma function to reduce bother and increase stoma acceptance among patients with a permanent colostomy.
