Here's to the Rule Breakers
Rules. When it comes to watches. We all have rules that we sort of adhere to. Maybe not rules but suggestions or guidelines. Some of us only want analog watches. Some will only get mechanical. My rule of only getting ONE watch every 5 years is generally pretty rock solid. Except for one brand. What Brand of Watch always seems to make you take your rules aside and spank them? Mine would be the G-Shock. I try not to collect too many watches (I only have one wrist).
Adventures of M. and his Rolex Explorer II
As some of you may know, there was a recent thread on watches that can go anywhere, do anything. My contention is that the mechanicals cannot contend with digital watches, if going anywhere and doing anything includes anything adventurous. While we could debate the definition to you, dear reader, this thread is not about you. It is about me. And my adventures. You see, to me, going anywhere, doing anything means much more than spending 9-5 at a desk. I neither have a job, nor a desk.
Software or spreadsheet to organize a watch collection??
#1 · I have a growing watch collection and am looking for software (or spreadsheet templates?) to organize it. I would like to keep track of a variety of info for each of my watches, like: brand model type (e.g. Dress, diver, pilot, etc) purchase date purchase amount movement date last serviced band size etc i would be grateful for any recommendations. #2 · #3 · What do you want to accomplish? Service intervals, time on wrist, not lose track of watches, insurance?
First luxury watch: Explorer or Moonwatch?
#1 · Warning: long post ahead, tldr is I am debating between the new 36mm explorer or the cal 3861 moonwatch sapphire sandwich as my first big luxury purchase. Background: my wife and I recently paid off our student loans and I am looking to get my first true luxury watch to celebrate. I always liked the explorer, and when the 36mm explorer was announced I was sold.
