Painkillers, Supplements and Liver Damage: Are You Overloading Your Liver?
People today choose instant solutions which include painkillers that treat headaches and immunity supplements and herbal products that support general health. The substances appear safe yet their unregulated and ongoing use leads to hidden damage which affects the liver, a crucial organ for human beings. Medication-related liver damage has emerged as a rising problem which now affects healthy people who typically go unnoticed by medical professionals.
Painkillers, Supplements and Liver Damage: Are You Overloading Your Liver
By Dr. Sonal Asthana, Lead Consultant – HPB & Liver Transplant Surgery, Aster RV Hospital People today choose instant solutions which include painkillers that treat headaches and immunity supplements and herbal products that support general health. Fatty Liver Disease: A Growing Epidemic
Millions of Indians are silently suffering from fatty liver disease, also referred to medically as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). It is a disease where the liver accumulates fat that is more than 5% of its total weight. NAFLD is not caused by alcohol consumption, in contrast to alcoholic liver disease. It is especially concerning that NAFLD is becoming more common in India.
Emerging 4D Fabrication of Next-Generation Nerve Guiding Conduits: A Critical Perspective
Emerging 4D Fabrication of Next-Generation Nerve Guiding Conduits: A Critical Perspective The latest advancements in the field of manufacturing for biomedicine, digital health, targeted therapy, and personalized medicine have fuelled the fabrication of smart medical devices.
Emerging Trends in Biliary Stents: A Materials and Manufacturing Perspective
Emerging Trends in Biliary Stents: A Materials and Manufacturing Perspective Saswat Choudhury, Sonal Asthana, Shervanthi Homer-Vanniasinkam and Kaushik Chatterjee Abstract Biliary stent technology has come a long way since its inception. There have been significant advancements in materials used, designs, and deployment strategies.
Steering the Aspects of MgO-Induced Structure Sensitivity in Cu-Based Catalysts for CO2-Rich Syngas Conversion to Dimethyl Ether: Cu/Zn Ratio and Lattice Parameters
The present work reports the crucial effect of the Cu/Zn ratio and MgO content (10–30%) on lattice parameters as well as the metal surface area of the co-precipitated Cu–ZnO–MgO/γ-Al2O3 bifunctional catalyst for direct dimethyl ether (DME) synthesis from CO2-rich syngas (H2/CO = 2). X-ray diffraction analysis of the as-synthesized catalysts showed a prominent structural identity belonging to the malachite–rosasite [(Cu,Zn)2(CO3)(OH)2] group of minerals.
Organ donation has risen tenfold in India but more needs to be done
Organ donation is one of the greatest contributions to humanity. It is a true gift of life - not only are you saving the lives of many, but also bringing in new hopes and dreams to the receiver. Over the past decade, organ donation rates have risen more than tenfold across the country. (Photo source: IE) By Dr Sonal Asthana, Did you know that organ donation from one donor can save eight lives and provide tissues that can help almost 50 people?
Direct conversion of syngas to DME: synthesis of new Cu-based hybrid catalysts using Fehling’s solution, elimination of the calcination step
A facile new method for the synthesis of nanostructured Cu O–ZnO and Cu O–ZnO–MgO catalysts has been described. The catalysts were physically admixed with ?-Al O to form hybrid catalysts suitable for direct selective conversion of syngas to DME. The methanol synthesis component was synthesized from the corresponding nitrate precursors using Fehling’s solution coupled with the glucose oxidation assisted precipitation method.
