Trader Joe’s connoisseur reviews springtime items
Trader Joe’s has to be my favorite store. I have to say the atmosphere of Trader Joe’s in the springtime is unmatched. From the beautiful tulips right at the front, to all the end caps covered in floral art, I feel like I’ve been transported to the spring even though the weather says otherwise. On my most recent trip, I looked for their new springtime and items with the “new item” label to try and see if some of them lived up to the cute packaging that they have.

Starting Hinsdale South transfer guard Adam Flowers rose to the occasion to secure the Mustangs win, 57-52, against his old team, Hinsdale South, in overtime after hitting a 3-pointer to break the tie game with 59 seconds left on Jan. 21. “I was like-go away. Trader Joe’s connoisseur reveals best holiday food products
I just love Trader Joe’s, but Trader Joe’s during the holiday season is just next level. There’s something about the atmosphere that they set up that puts me into the holiday spirit. With finals week in full swing I needed a holiday pick-me-up so I headed to Trader Joe’s to review some of the best and maybe worst holiday items to get me out of the finals spirit and into the holiday one. Peppermint Joe-Joe’s -10/10 These are just fabulous.

Seniors swim in stress during college application process
Application season is in full swing, with most early action deadlines having passed. This is an exciting time for high school seniors, but it’s also the most stressful time in a senior’s high school career from having to sum up all of their extracurricular activities in 150 characters to writing a 650 word essay about who they are as a person to send off to the college of their dreams without ever meeting the people who are deciding their future.
Students create problems in learning commons
Walk into the commons after sixth period lunch, and one will see trash littering the tables and floor, chairs everywhere and students flooding in and out of the space. This scene is not an uncommon sight for students. The commons was part of an upgrade that District 99 made for DGS and DGN; the money came from tax dollars as the DGS commons, library, community room and auditorium totaled $34 million.
Mustangs stampede to the polls
On Sept. 15, an email was sent out to DGS students asking about their opinions on politics and the 2024 election. It was an optional survey sent out by the Director of Student Activities Jennifer Martinez and approximately 168 students took the questionnaire. According to this survey, 90.4 percent of students are currently not registered to vote. Nonetheless, it is important to acknowledge that the majority of the student body isn’t eligible to vote as students are required to be 18 years of age.

Coaching is her passion. “I just love the connection with [the] kids… with coaching it’s just different.
Homecoming at DGS: the good, the bad and the repeats
It’s 1995, the trees along Dunham are covered in toilet paper; the students filed into their homerooms as they write names on paper for their class’ representatives. It’s homecoming week at DGS. Former student and now parent of two DGS students, Vanessa Majchrowicz recalls the impact homecoming had on DGS when she attended; she remembers the school spirit of the week and how everyone felt unified. Now, as a parent, she thinks homecoming has a huge impact on the Downers Grove community.

On all 180 school days throughout the year the DGS commons is filled to the brim with student life. Each one of those days students interact with each other in a variety of different ways. From last minute studying to intense discussion about the new gossip, the DGS commons is the place to be during a free period. Senior Lindsy Bende chows down and spills the gossip during lunch. “I love being able to talk with friends and decompress in between classes,” Bende said.
